I “Barbara” met such a nice couple when I was on my way back home to North Carolina (we have been stationed here for almost 1 year and my husband is in Iraq at the present time) and they were on their way back to Florida.
I just happened to drive behind them at the gas station and noticed that they were from Florida and I noticed that they had a ribbon on their vehicle in reference to support Down Syndrome and I approached the gentleman and start talking to him after he told me that he had a son with Down's and I told him that I also had a son with Down's. They were very nice people. I believe her name was Kim.
I have not experienced any major problems with my son that I call "My Big Buddy". Without him I could not go on, because he his such a sweet and wonderful person. I did not know what to expect when I had a child with Downs, because there was so many tales, but after finding out that his grandmother had 3 sons with Downs and his father was the only son that did not have Downs and my son became special to every one in my family and is loved so much, but unfortunately, his father did not know how to adapt to his first child having Downs and he chose not to help me raise him and we separate, but by the grace of the good lord above, I managed to raise my son with the LORDS help and he is 25 years old and very special and happy. Praise GOD!!
I sometimes experience the uncomfortable of him when he has gout, but other than that, he is wonderful.
